Anil Lal

Dr. Anil Lal is a Professor of Economics at Pittsburg State University (PSU). He received his B. A. (Hons.) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, M. A. in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, M.Phil in Development Economics from University of Glasgow, and PhD in Economics from Washington State University. Prior to joining PSU, Dr. Lal worked as an economist to the federal government in India as a part of Indian Civil Service and has also worked as a consultant to The World Bank.

Dr. Lal’s research interests are in the field of International Economics, Development Economics, and Econometrics. He is actively engaged in research and has published about 18 papers in journals such as Journal of Development Economics, Journal of International Trade and Economic Development, Journal of Economic Integration, Journal of Asian Economics, International Economic Journal, Journal of Macromarketing, Asia Pacific Development Journal, Singapore Economic Review, South African Journal of Economics and Management. He has also published articles in books such as Globalization, Trade and Foreign Direct Investment (John H. Dunning, (ed.)) and Contemporary Issues in Commercial Policy (M. I. Krenin ((ed.)). He regularly presents papers in national and international conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for several journals.

Dr. Lal teaches Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, International Economics, Econometrics, and Seminar in Applied Economics. He is passionate about teaching and uses different methods of delivery such as online, flipped, traditional classes. He has created more than 120 lecture videos (all available on YouTube) to enhance student learning. He routinely guides students in research and his students have received awards at the Research Colloquium organized by PSU.

Apart from teaching and research, he enjoys playing golf.
