PSU conducts winter commencement ceremonies
We gather this evening to celebrate your work and our pride in what has been accomplished.
~ President Steve Scott
Pittsburg State University held two winter commencement exercises on Friday, Dec. 14, in John Lance Arena. About 478 students participated in the two ceremonies.
Regent Ed McKechnie brought greetings from the Kansas Board of Regents.
President Steve Scott congratulated the graduates for all they accomplished while attending PSU.
"During the spring 2011 semester students passed a referendum that significantly moved the Center for the Arts forward," Scott said. "And two weeks ago, because of that student support, we announced we would begin construction of this long-needed facility in January of 2013.
"Your class, your classmates, your friends made this happen," he said. "We’ll forever be thankful for your belief in this project and your vote in support of it. I hope you will return to campus in the years to come and enter the Center for the Arts, and take a moment to reflect on your role in creating this facility, a facility that will serve thousands of students for decades to come.
"We gather this evening," Scott said, "to celebrate your work and our pride in what has been accomplished."
