Pittsburg State University has once again earned the top ranking among the three state regional universities in Kansas, according to U.S. News and World Report. The rankings were released Tuesday and appear in the 2012 edition of U.S. News' "Best Colleges."
The publication includes Pittsburg State on its list of top tier "Best Regional Universities" in the Midwest, which includes the states of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
To develop its rankings, U.S. News and World Report examines statistical data in 16 categories including alumni giving, how selective the university's admissions policies are, class sizes, retention rates, student-faculty ratio and peer assessments.
"We are always pleased when we do well in the various national rankings," said Dr. Bill Ivy, associate vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Success. "We work hard to provide an outstanding education and a superior university experience for students and we are happy when that is recognized by a national publication.
"More important than national lists, however, is the success of our students, the achievements of our alumni and recognition among businesses, industries and companies that PSU students are well prepared for life and work after graduation."
