10/22/2009

"
This is a great opportunity for us to provide an education for the community. "
~ Shawn Naccarato, PSU director of planned giving

Pittsburg State University is sponsoring an upcoming presentation designed to educate community members on long-range estate planning.

PSU, as well as the Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center Foundation and the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, will present "Charting the Course," an estate planning presentation, from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Pittsburg Public Library.

Shawn Naccarato, PSU director of planning giving, will introduce featured speaker Christopher Dumm, a Joplin, Mo., estate planning attorney. Dumm will speak on health care directives, how to create a will and trust, making plans for long-term care, and how to contribute to a community through philanthropic estate planning.

"Everyone needs estate and long-range plans," Naccarato said. "Any asset a person has is an estate, and we're trying to encourage people to think about themselves. This is a great opportunity for us to provide an education for the community."

For more education on the free event, contact Naccarato at snaccara@pittstate.edu or at 620-235-7683.
