The program will travel to Vienna, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, and Berlin. The main goal is for students to learn how psychological disorders are diagnosed and treated in Europe. Specifically, students will become familiar with the International Classification of Disease (ICD) and how it differs from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). In addition, students will become informed about the various treatment options/settings that are available to European clients. 

The program activities may include:

  • Walking tour of Vienna
  • Tour of Sigmund Freud Museum
  • Tour of Narrenturm, continental Europe's oldest building for the accommodation of mental patients
  • Viktor Frankl Institute - Viktor Frankl was an Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist, and survivor of the Holocaust
  • Guest lecture at a mental health institution
  • Walking tour of Frankfurt
  • Service project in Frankfurt
  • Bus tour to Heidelberg, visit Psychiatric Center of North Baden
  • Walking tour of Berlin
  • Guest lecture on culture specific disorders
  • Institute for Gestalt Therapy and Gestalt Education
  • Memorial Site and Museum Sachsenhausen - former concentration camp

Payment plan: 

1st deposit: $250 by December 13, 2013 (non-refundable)
2nd:             $500 by January 17, 2014
3rd:              $500 by February 14, 2014
4th:              $500 by March 14, 2014
5th:              $500 by April 11, 2014
6th:              $500 by May 9, 2013
7th:              remaining balance by 6 June, 2014

Tentative refund policy: 
The $250 deposit is not refundable.
1/17/14      100% minus $250 deposit
2/14/14      75% of amount paid minus $250 deposit
3/14/14      50% of amount paid minus $250 deposit
4/11/14      25% of amount paid minus $250 deposit
After 4/11/14 no refunds can be issued
