Cell Phones & Pagers
Cell phones are available for temporary or permanent checkout from the Office of Information Services.
Alltel Regional Plan This plan covers a Regional Service Area. This area covers all of Kansas and Nebraska and portions of surrounding states. All calls originating or received outside this service area will incur roaming charges. All calls placed to locations outside the service area will incur long distance charges. Any roaming, long distance or assisted calling charges will be charged to the account designated by the user. The monthly rate for this plan is $30.36, which includes the equipment charge.
Alltel Total Freedom Plan With the Total Freedom plan there is no long distance or roaming charges across the United States. Each phone is designated 350 minutes (which are pooled with other phones in the plan), 1,000 mobile-to-mobile minutes and 1,000 night and weekend minutes. The monthly cost for this plan is $45.50 per month, which includes the equipment charge. Any overage or billed calls/service will be charged to the account designate by the user.
AT&T Mobility (Cingular) Nationwide Plan AT&T Mobility is continuing to expand their service. The current coverage area will continue to expand, but is sparse in the northern Midwest and west coast of the United States. The available plan is 350 minutes designated to each phone (but pooled within the plan), unlimited mobile-to-mobile and unlimited nights and weekends. The monthly charge for this plan is $45.50 per month, which includes the equipment charge. Any overage or billed calls/service will be charged to the account designated by the user.
Data packages can be added to the Alltel Total Freedom or AT&T plan at additional charge.
Check-out Cell Phones To checkout a cell phone, the Cellular Phone Request Form should be completed and returned to the Services Manager with at least 24 hours advance notice. The form must include requested plan, PSU account number, authorized signature, destination and anticipated usage.
Check-out Rates Rates are determined from the time the cell phone is picked up until it is returned to OIS. There is a minimum six-hour check-out period. The rates for the various plans are detailed on the Cellular Phone Request Form. Any roaming or long distance charges made during the check-out period will be passed on to the user.
Billing transactions will occur on the monthly telephone billing processed by OIS.
