GUS HR Info Sessions: We have scheduled 5 sessions for campus to review GUS HR and changes that we know to date. We encourage ALL employees to attend one of the sessions. State Employee Group Health Insurance for 2017

The Group Health Insurance (GHI) Open Enrollment meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, in the Overman Student Center Ballroom at 2:00 p.m. HRS encourages all employees and/or spouses to attend this meeting to learn about the changes to the health benefits for Plan Year 2017.

The 2017 Health insurance rates have been published. Rates will be increasing and the new semi-monthly rates can be found here. Click here for more GHI information.


The State Employee Health Plan is hosting webinars to provide employees information about the health plan changes occurring for Plan Year 2017. Registration is limited to 500 for each session.

Employees who retire from Pittsburg State can continue health insurance in the State of Kansas Direct Bill Program. Click here for more information.

Flu Shot Clinic

Employees and covered spouses with the State of Kansas Group Health Insurance may sign up to receive a free flu shot. Here are the flu shot clinic dates:

  • October 7, 2016 from 8am - 3:30pm in the Overman Student Center, Governors Room

How to schedule an appointment:

  1. Click here.
    Company User ID: Kansas
                   Password: Kansas
  2. Create an account if you haven't already used the OccuVAX online scheduler.
    Employees that previously used the OccuVAX online scheduler will already have an account and should skip this step. A forgot password is available for those that need it.
  3. Select your clinic.
  4. Select an appointment time.
  5. Enter requested information.
  6. Click the Schedule Appointment button.
  7. You DO NOT need to pay for your flu shot!
  8. Print out the 2016 Consent Form for Insurance Claims. This is the form that you will take with you to your appointment and give to the nurse.

State sponsored Flu Clinics begin September 1st and run through October 31st. Currently there are over 100 events across 45 plus cities. Flu shot clinics are available at no cost to members of the State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) ages 18-65. Click for more information regarding flu shot clinics.

Compensatory Time Bank Balances - GUS HR Information

We have finalized the policy on compensatory time bank balances effective with go-live.  Here is a link to the HRS web page with the new policy:  This week (week of July 18, 2016), we are sending letters to all supervisors with employees who currently have a balance over the new compensatory time bank balance maximum.  The employee and division head are also getting the letter.  Keep in mind that we are providing for an 18-month transition period to give supervisors and employees who are over the maximums ample time to work out a plan to be in compliance by May 2018.

Working After Retirement Rules for KPERS Retirees - Effective July 1, 2016

Any PSU employee who is receiving a KPERS retirement benefit should review the new Working After Retirement rules effective July 1, 2016 found on the KPERS web site:  We are still learning these rules and do not have any information other than what is found on the KPERS web site.  We will share more as it becomes available.  Employees should contact KPERS for more information at 1-888-275-5737.
