History Students Win Awards

Jeff Gibbens, Amanda Minton, and Mason Lovelace, three graduate students from the Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences, led a panel at the 85th Annual Kansas Association of Historians Conference.  The conference was held at Johnson County Community College on the first and second of April 2011.

Jeff Gibbens works as  a Graduate Assistant in Axe Library Special Collections, while Amanda Minton and Mason Lovelace are both Graduate Teaching Assistants in the Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences.  Together, they led a panel discussion, "Teaching the World History Survey: Challenges and Outcomes."

"This was great  opportunity to interact with professors from most of the Kansas Regents institutions as well as fellow graduate students during the session and at the conference," according to Dr. Kelly Woestman, Professor of History.  Kelly Woestman, who is a president of the organization, and Judith Shaw, who has attended this conference every year since she has been at PSU, accompanied the students.
