University hosts winter commencement

Pittsburg State University held two winter commencement exercises on Friday, Dec. 14, in John Lance Arena. About 478 students participated in the two ceremonies.

Pittsburg State University held two winter commencement exercises on Friday, Dec. 14, in John Lance Arena. About 478 students participated in the two ceremonies.

President Steve Scott welcomed the graduates and their families and noted that this was the first commencement ceremony to be held in the newly renovated arena.

President Scott praised the students for their support of the performing arts center and urged them to return after it is finished and take pride in their accomplishment.

Regent Ed McKechnie brought greetings from the Kansas Board of Regents.

Persons unable to attend the event were able to watch commencement via live streaming. University officials said viewers logged on from across the U.S. and a number of other countries.
