Students select Outstanding Faculty

Of all the honors and accolades Pittsburg State University faculty may get over their careers, the one they seem to cherish the most is the Outstanding Faculty Award given each year by students.

That this case with this year’s honorees, Paul McCallum, a professor in English and Modern Languages; Jamie McDaniel, an associate professor in English and Modern Languages; and Gail Yarick, an instructor in Accounting and Computer Information Systems.

The three were honored as part of the 2017 Apple Day observance on Tuesday, March 7.

“What continues to inspire me are those moments when a student gets it,” McCallum said. “Their eyes come open and they come up to you after class and they say, ‘That was fun. I loved this book.”

“(I love) seeing students succeed in ways that they didn’t think they could,” McDaniel said.

“I think the world of my students and to know they appreciate what I do is so amazing,” Yarick said.
