It’s Move-In Day!

Pittsburg State University President Steve Scott joined dozens of members of the Move-In Crew, parents and other family members Saturday to help more than 1,300 students get settled into their residence halls.
The president said Move-In Day was an opportunity not only to welcome students in the Gorilla family, but also to meet and reassure parents.
“This is just a wonderful day,” Scott said.
The president noted that although there was a lot of excitement in the air and the residence halls were full of laughter, Move-In Day could be bittersweet.
“Parents are going through a lot of emotions right now,” Scott said. “They are proud and happy, but there will be some tears when Mom and Dad head home. We want parents to know that we care about their children, too, and we’re going to do everything we can to help their son or daughter adjust to college life and to have a successful academic career.”
That adjustment begins right away. On Sunday, new freshmen will be busy with a variety of activities that leads up to an evening pool party at the Pittsburg Aquatic Center. Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 20.
