Management and Marketing Faculty


Thomas M. Box is a Professor of Management and has been on the Pittsburg State University faculty since 1990. Prior to that he taught at The University of Tulsa. He has a BS in Applied Mathematics and an MBA from the University of Tulsa. His Ph.D. is from Oklahoma State University. 

Box teaches Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship and Six Sigma Quality Management in the Kelce College of Business. At Pittsburg State University he has served as Director of the Small Business Institute and as Director of the Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program. Prior to teaching, Box spent more than fifteen years as an executive in the steel industry primarily concerned with startups and turnarounds and is a Marine Corps veteran. 

His research interests are in the areas of strategy, entreprenuership and quality management. He has authored or co-authored more than sixty academic articles and four books. He is a member of the Academy of Management, the Allied Academies, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the World Future Society.

Box is President of his own consulting firm (TMB & Associates) and works with small businesses, manufacturing firms, healthcare organizations and government agencies.
