Applications:
Applications are taken throughout the year in the FCS Department main office. The application can be accessed through the link below, printed out and returned to the FCS office or downloaded and sent as an attachment to our office to hviets@pittstate.edu. Children's names are placed on a waiting list and openings are filled as they become available. Contact the main office for more information.
New Information for Fall 08 - 09 school year:
In Fall 2008, the preschool will have two sessions. The morning session will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 - 11:15. This class will be a mixed age group of 3 to 5 year olds. Parents have a choice of sending their child for three or four days.
The afternoon session meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00 - 3:45. This class also is a mixed age group of 3 to 5 year olds. Parents have a choice of sending their child for three or four days.
Tuition for Fall 08 and Spring 09
The tuition rates effective starting Fall 2007 is $450 per semester for 3 days per week and $500 per semester for 4 days per week.
Application process
Children must be at least 2-years-old to be placed on the waiting list. The length of the list varies from time to time, but a good estimate is about one year. (Because you apply late is not indicative of not being able to get into the program for an extended period.) There have been cases, although rare, that someone has applied during the summer and the child was enrolled for that fall.
The preschool is for children from the age of 3 to 5 years old with priority given to those in the year prior to kindergarten. The Program Director notifies parents in April if their child will be in the preschool for the following fall and spring. You will not be notified until we reach your child's name on the waiting list.

The Preschool is located within the new Family & Consumer Sciences Building on Lindburg Street. Look for the playground on the south side of the building. The Department office is in 101 Family & Consumer Sciences Building.
Who we serve:
The Children enrolled range in age from 3 1/2 to 5 years old. The preschool serves children from both the PSU campus and the larger community. It serves as a training facility for students majoring in Early Childhood Development and Early Childhood Education. Welcome to the PSU-FCS Preschool Laboratory homepage. The Early Childhood Development program at PSU helps people prepare to work with and for the benefit of young children and families. Our graduates are employed in public and private preschools, child care centers, before and after school programs, YWCA, county extension programs and parent education. The program offers courses that also prepare students who wish to go further in their education to pursue a graduate degree.
The Preschool Laboratory provides opportunities to interact with young children under the guidance of skilled instructors. Students in Developmental Planning! The Preschool years, Interacting With Children, Development of the child; Birth through eight, and FCS Student Internship participate in the Lab as part of their course requirements.
