Art Education Art Education provides and outstanding opportunity for students to develop the necessary skills to be not only an artist, but also an art educator in the K-12 classroom.  Students prepare for teaching through courses in art education, art history, studio art and education (progrssional semester).  Our teachers are prepared to teach at either the elementary or secondary level and most are employed shortly after graduation and certification.

Ceramics The ceramics studio environment gives students the background for the exploration and invertigation of hand building and wheel throwing utilitarian objects.  Students are challenged in artistic skills, visual problem solving, concepts and critical thinking to gain a better understanding and appreciation of the rich tradition in ceramics.

Commercial Art Commercial Art at PSU focuses on learning both traditional art medias and digital techniques to developing a personal style cenetered around client based illustrations projects.  Emphasis on idea development, originality, aesthetics adn technical proficiency helps student hone skills in a classroom environment that exhoes the professional marketplace.

Jewelry Design Jewelry Design is an exploration of form and technique in a three-dimentional format, using metals and alternative materials to develop wearable objects.

Painting The course of study in painting seeks to establish links between the formal and conceptual ultimately communicating original ideas through the painted form.  Students in the painting emphasis begin by learning fundamental techniques of painting through a variety of approached and matriculate to more complex issues within the scope of Painting.
