Health, Human Performance and Recreation (HHPR)

The Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation (HHPR) is located in the Student Recreation Center and has a faculty composed of members possessing a wide-array of specializations.  The department offers undergraduate degree programs in Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Recreation as well as an online graduate program in HHPR. 

Within each degree programs are emphases/concentration areas from which students select the professional paths best fitting their needs.  The department also participates in the Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP).

Event Planning and Management Workshop

The HHPR department presents an Event Planning and Management Workshop, July 23-24, 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m. Attendees will be given information about event planning and management best practices along with resources to use in the field.

Recreation Accreditation Documents

Pittsburg State University's Recreation and Therapeutic Recreation Programs are accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks,    Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT). The Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT) accredits baccalaureate programs in parks, recreation, tourism, sport management, event management, therapeutic recreation, and leisure studies offered at regionally accredited institutions within the United States and its territories, and at nationally accredited institutions in Canada, and Mexico.
