Join us in celebrating and recognizing the American Library Associations' Banned Books Week from September 24th to September 30th 2017. Leonard H. Axe Library will have a variety of events, by professors and students, to help raise awareness to different forms of censorship and tools to combat such efforts.

Protecting Students' Right to Read: What Teachers and Librarians Need to Know About Challenges

This Thursday Sept. 28th at 3pm in Axe Library Rm 115 join us for a discussion on Banned books and how to handle challenges. Every year hundreds of requests are put in to school boards, principals, and administrations to remove certain books, graphic novels, and reading materials from children's reading lists and libraries. Professor Susan Knell discusses some of the challenges seen yearly and what new and upcoming professionals can do about it.
