All 2013 high school graduates enrolling for the spring 2014 semester are required to attend Pitt C.A.R.E.S. (Campus Advisement, Registration and Enrollment Services) scheduled for Friday, January 10th, 2014. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Overman Student Center, and program activities are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m. Registration fees are $30 per student and $15 per parent/guest. Guests under the age of 18 are free.
Please note that Pitt C.A.R.E.S. is not an optional event and if you fail to attend a hold will be placed on your student account, preventing you from collecting your financial aid, adding/dropping classes, etc.
You must register for Pitt C.A.R.E.S. prior to enrolling in classes for the spring 2014 semester. Students can enroll November 20th through December 13th and January 6th through the 10th between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Students should report to the Office of Admission, 107 Horace Mann--Student Welcoming Center, to begin the enrollment process. If you have questions please call us at 1-800-854-PITT (7488).
Students can move in after Pitt C.A.R.E.S. between 3 and 5pm on Friday, January 10th. In order to move in early, you must contact me no later than January 6th at email@example.com. If you choose to move in early (Residence Halls are open to everyone else Sunday, Jan. 12th), an extra fee of $17/night will be charged to your housing bill.
On the day of the event, visitors are encouraged to park in the Brown Parking lots or Visitors spots located throughout campus. Relatively few visitors spots are located to the east, west, and north of the Overman Student Center. Brown parking spaces are located to the east of the Axe library and football stadium, as well as to the north of Grubbs Hall. No parking permits are required on the days of Pitt C.A.R.E.S. If you will require accommodation for specific learning and/or physical challenges, please write a brief explanation in the comments section of your registration so that we may contact you to make necessary preparations. This information is voluntary and will be treated with utmost confidentiality. We will, however, forward your name to the campus Affirmative Action Office and/or the Learning Disabilities Assistance Program so that these offices can begin preparations to assist you in the fall semester.
