Students will have access to modern learning environments that support current teaching methods.
In order to develop a 21st century skillset, our students must have access to a 21st century learning environment. Pittsburg State has based its building needs on its strategic academic needs. The end result is a facilities master plan that fulfills our current requirements while also anticipating our future needs.
In recent years, Pittsburg State completed major facilities improvements with the opening of the Simulation Hospital for the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing and improved Intercollegiate Athletics facilities including the addition of a soccer field. But other facility enhancements are essential if select academic programs are going to provide truly modern learning environments.
The Heavy Equipment/Diesel Program in the Crossland College of Technology is a current priority for improvements. Even though the Crossland Technology Center continues to be an impressive facility, some programs have outgrown the space allocated when it was built in 1997.
Construction is now underway for the Gorilla Rising Project, located in downtown Pittsburg which includes the renovation of the historic Besse Hotel for student housing and the new Kelce College of Business building.
Modernizing and optimizing existing buildings for STEM classrooms, teaching labs, and research space is also a University priority.
