Benefits of Fraternity & Sorority Life

Why join a fraternity/sorority?

Being part of a student organization puts you in a greater position to succeed than those who are not involved. Studies have shown that those students who get involved in extracurricular organizations report greater happiness with their college experience, better grades, more fun, closer friends, and they have even been shown to make more money upon graduating!

  • Values - Values are a large reason why students join Greek organizations. Committing to your personal values and finding friends who share common values helps increase the bonds of friendship and create a successful base for your education and life.

  • Leadership - Being part of a fraternity/sorority allows students opportunities to develop their leadership skills that will help them later in life. Opportunities include leadership conferences, leadership positions, mentors and role models, and the opportunity to interact and lead a diverse organization. Greeks are also involved in nearly every student organization on campus, many taking leadership roles in those organizations.

  • Scholarship - Greek organizations not only offer scholarship promoting academic success, but many organizations have academic development programs for members, and provide training and support for study skills and time management.

  • Alumnae Involvement/Networking - The opportunity to interact with alumnae members allows student to get to know professionals who may be working in their field of study, and who share a common bond of brotherhood/sisterhood.

  • Fun - Being part of a social fraternity/sorority is a lot of fun! Activities include opportunities to social with other organizations, both Greek and non-Greek, service activities, and brotherhood/sisterhood events.
