Construction to begin on new donor-funded end zone facility at Pitt State

Print Story

Construction of a new end zone facility designed to enhance student-athlete experience, engage the community and alumni, and strengthen recruiting and retention efforts at Pittsburg State University will get underway starting Nov. 12.

The last home game of the season at Carnie Smith Stadium is Nov. 7. Fans will notice some changes at that game as preparations get underway: the End Zone Experience, traditionally located in the north end zone, will move to the south end zone for the final game.

On Nov. 12, a construction staging area for equipment and materials will be set up at the south edge of the Brown parking lot, north of the Champion Gorilla and Gorilla Village. The staging area will include a portion of the hike-bike path.

About the facility

The new end zone facility will include a game day locker room for Gorilla football, private suites for fans and corporate partners, coaches' offices and a centralized recruiting area, team meeting rooms, student-athlete study and collaboration space, and event space capable of serving both university and community needs year-round.

The facility, to be located on the north end of the field, is to be funded entirely by private dollars; donors still are being sought. For more information or to give, visit https://psufoundation.givingfuel.com/athletics-giving-page and choose the option for endzone donations.

University leaders say the project represents an investment in the role Pitt State Athletics continues to play in bringing together the community and generations of Gorilla alumni.

Facilities like this show that Pittsburg State will provide a first-class experience rooted in personal relationships, opportunity, and student success, noted President Thomas Newsom.

Memberships

All 20 premium suites on the second and third floor, which include tickets, guest passes, and parking passes, already are spoken for.

Memberships in the Mpix Club on the first floor are available. Memberships include food, a cash bar, social areas with TVs, and front row access as the team walks through the club to the field on game days. The MPix Club also will be available for events outside of game days. To reserve a spot in the Mpix Club, visit https://pittstate.regfox.com/psu-suite-waitlist.

Vice President for Athletics Anthony Crespino said the facility was intentionally designed to support multiple priorities.

“In addition to supporting our student-athletes, we are creating spaces and opportunities for fans and alumni to connect, to create moments where fans can be part of the pregame experience on Game Day — but also creating a first-class venue for conferences, private events, and social gatherings that can be utilized all year long,” Crespino said.

The goal is to complete the new endzone facility in time for the 2027 football season.
