Pitt State social work program to host regional conference

Social work professionals, educators, and students from across the region will gather at Pittsburg State University on Sept. 12 for a conference designed to strengthen the field of social work through collaboration, learning, and professional development. 

Hosted by Pitt State’s Social Work Program, Gorilla Social Work Day will feature interactive workshops, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and continuing education sessions led by experienced practitioners. 

Licensed social workers in Missouri and Kansas can earn valuable continuing education credit, including: 

Missouri: 

  • 3 hours in ethics 
  • 2 hours in suicide assessment, referral, treatment, and management 
  • 3 hours in implicit/explicit bias, diversity, inclusion, or cultural awareness/competency/humility 

Kansas: 

  • 3 hours in ethics 
  • 6 hours in diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders 

The conference runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the Pitt State campus. 

Registration is now open: 

  • $75 for professionals 
  • $25 for students 
  • $200 for exhibitor booths 
  • Free for Pitt State social work students
