University shares community registration details for upcoming events

Pittsburg State University is gearing up for five events this fall that will bring together the campus and the community. Don’t miss out — registration is required.

Community Fair

Registration opened July 7 for the annual Community Fair, an event that helps students learn more about services, organizations, and businesses available to them in the Pittsburg area.

Typically held each fall on the Oval during the first week of school, this year’s fair has been relocated to Cleveland Plaza west of the Overman Student Center while construction on the Oval is underway.

The fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 19. No sales may occur during the event, but businesses are welcome to hand out coupons, prizes, and samples.

There is no fee to participate. Register at pittstate.edu/communityfairsignup Questions? Contact Campus Activities Director Eva Sager by email or at 620-235-4791.

Car’Rilla Fest Car Show

Calling all car enthusiasts! On Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Car’Rilla Fest is coming back for a second year to raise money for student scholarships in the Health, Human Performance, and Recreation Department.

This year's event will be held in the parking lot of the Student Recreation Center at 2001 S. Rouse Street and will feature food trucks and other partners.

Registration is $20 for each division: Jeeps, motorcycles, cars, and trucks. It will close at noon on Aug. 21.

Hosted by the HHPR Club and HHPR Department, registration fees and donations from this event go straight to students. Last year’s event featured nearly 30 vehicles and raised enough for a scholarship of almost $1,000.
