Media Production students earn awards at state broadcasting competition  

Eight Pitt State Media Production students led by Communication Professor Troy Comeau, Assistant Professor Barth Cox, and Assistant Instructional Professor Kate Allred won eight awards in seven categories at this year's Kansas Association of Broadcaster's competition.  

“Our students showed excellence in the number of awards we won. These students who have worked hard to represent us and showcase what our department has to offer,” Cox said.

Xavier Ruiz (Joplin): 2nd place for “Coins of Courage: A Life Reclaimed”

Sports Play-by-Play  

Ryan McColloch (Monett): Honorable Mention for “PSU vs ESU Women's Basketball Play by Play” 

Best Episodic Entertainment Program 

Joe McGrath (Rossville): Honorable Mention for “Split Screen Talk Show Episode 4” 

“The students put their best foot forward and I’m proud of the work they did and the wins,” said Allred. 

Students earned their awards in conjunction with the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Sports Broadcasting and Student Seminar, where they connected with professionals from around the state in breakout sessions and practiced their skills through various activities.
