Through the Career Development Office in Axe Library, students gain access to year-round workshops, individualized coaching, career fairs, professional development events, and employer networking opportunities designed to meet the evolving demands of today’s workforce.
“Career development is a journey, not a last‑minute checklist,” said Kim Hull, director of Career Development at Pitt State. “And, it extends beyond academics. We provide experiences to give students the skills and confidence they need to be career ready.”
Her team also offers students a virtual career center, which includes job boards, internship postings, and curated resources for every major.
Students also have access to career counseling, job‑search strategy support, and access to Gorillas4Hire, the university’s centralized job portal for on‑ and off‑campus employment.

Students can participate in everything from resumé and cover‑letter assistance to mock interviews, networking events, and major‑specific career fairs — all designed to help articulate strengths and stand out to employers.
Participating in signature services and events will help students confidently prepare for the job search and hiring process.
Teacher Interview Day is hosted each spring for education majors and students entering teaching‑related fields. School districts from multiple states visit campus to conduct professional interviews with Pitt State students. The event regularly draws dozens of employers and provides an authentic hiring‑day experience.
Career Development staff provide personalized mock interviews — virtual and in person — to help students strengthen communication skills, get targeted feedback, and prepare for internship, job, or graduate school interviews. Students schedule sessions through a platform called Navigate.
Students can access resume‑building resources, professional templates, and skill‑focused tools to tailor their materials to employer expectations. Career advisors also offer one‑on‑one coaching to refine resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles.
Professionalism training is an essential part of Pitt State’s career preparation. At the annual Student Etiquette Dinner, students learn business dining etiquette, interviewing etiquette, and professional behavior expectations in a formal setting — skills critical for competitive job markets.
From large campus‑wide career fairs to major‑specific events such as Meet the Firms Day and College of Technology Company Days, students across disciplines connect directly with employers, explore internships, and build valuable networking relationships.
