Students interested in sales have expanded options at Pitt State

Students interested in professional selling as a career now have more advantages than ever in the Kelce College of Business at Pittsburg State University.

Those advantages include new membership in a national sales alliance, a new Center for Professional Selling, a dedicated advisory board of industry professionals, and the option to earn a professional sales certificate.

“Becoming part of the University Sales Center Alliance is a tremendous step forward for Pittsburg State University,” said Lynn Murray, dean of the Kelce College of Business. “It validates the quality of our sales curriculum and opens doors for our students to engage with top-tier programs, employers, and competitions nationwide.”

The University Sales Center Alliance

The prestigious organization is a network of universities with dedicated sales centers committed to advancing professional sales education.

Through the alliance, students will gain enhanced opportunities to build selling and networking skills by participating in national competitions, career events, and other experiential learning activities, Murray said.

Faculty also will benefit from expanded professional development resources.

The approval coincides with KCOB’s creation of the Center for Professional Selling, designed to equip students with hands‑on training and real‑world experience.

The center connects students with industry partners, promotes relationship‑driven selling practices, and bridges classroom learning with practical application.

“The Center for Professional Selling will strengthen our commitment to applied business education and give our students a competitive edge in a field that continues to grow and evolve,” Murray added.

Through corporate engagement, advanced sales training, and competitive events, the Center for Professional Selling will enhance student marketability, support regional business growth, and reinforce Pitt State’s commitment to preparing graduates for high‑demand careers.

The Professional Sales Certificate

Students have the opportunity to develop advanced skills and experience in the sales industry with the Professional Sales and Sales Management certificate. This program explores operations, customer service, and management concepts in a variety of sales sectors. Certificate achievement provides the potential for early career success and marketability for future career paths. The certificate program is open to any major from any college.
