The event, which will follow a workshop at 10 a.m., is open to all students as well as business leaders from the community.
Taylor, born and raised in Detroit, was a standout student-athlete on the Women’s Basketball team and earned degrees in Social Work and Sports Management as a first-generation graduate. Today, she serves as the executive director of community relations for the Kansas City Current.
With more than a decade of experience in youth development and community partnerships, she helps lead the team's community engagement strategy, supporting corporate and nonprofit collaborations and player civic initiatives.
She also serves on multiple advisory boards and was appointed Commissioner for Kansas City Parks & Recreation by Quinton Lucas.
Her leadership has earned recognition as a Kansas City Business Journal NextGen Leader (2023), Starland News Community Builder to Watch (2023), and Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce MVP (2024). In 2025, she received the Athena Young Professional Leadership Award from the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Dr. Kenneth K. Bateman Outstanding Alumni Award from Pittsburg State University.
“We are honored to have DePrice return to Pittsburg State as this year’s keynote speaker,” said Jacie Collier, president of Women@Work. “Her journey from student-athlete to a leader in professional sports and community relations is incredibly inspiring. Her story is a powerful example of leadership, resilience, and the impact graduates can make in their communities.”
Her keynote will focus on resilience, leadership, and empowering women to thrive.
The Women@Work Luncheon will take place at 11 a.m. in the Overman Student Center Ballroom.
