Called IDEA FEST, it is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 24 in the Overman Student Center.
It will be staged as a trade show-style expo and will feature student teams showcasing new product concepts, ventures, and merchandise from their existing pop-up shops.
The goal, said organizer Jane Talkington, is to provide students with a platform for creativity and real-world business experience.
Volunteer judges will provide feedback, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help these emerging entrepreneurs refine their ideas and grow their ventures. Each judge will select which student team(s) to visit at their tables.
Talkington, the university's new coordinator for entrepreneurship programs, said this flexible, self-directed approach will ensure that advice and connections are targeted where they can have the greatest impact, fostering meaningful one-on-one interactions in a lively, supportive environment.
"IDEA FEST is all about bridging the gap between early-stage ideas and innovations on campus and the local community," Talkington said. "We're looking forward to judges offering practical insights, encouragement, and potential partnerships to help turn students' fresh ideas into successful realities.”
The event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments sold by students. To volunteer as a judge, email Jane Talkington or call 620-235-4957.
