Academic Publication Bootcamp

sponsored by The Writing Center and Axe Library

Write Your Journal Article in Twelve Weeks

And have your draft submitted by September 1!

What:  A structured writing program that will navigate you through starting, writing, and finishing your journal article in time to submit it by September 1st.

When:  Program starts May 17th, articles will be completed by August 7th, and editing will be available from Writing Center faculty from August 7th to 31st.

How:  We will be using the academic publication workbook Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks: A Guide to Academic Publishing Success. Each chapter outlines the writing tasks for the week and provides support for completing them. Participants will read a chapter at the beginning of each week, share questions and motivation on the group’s Facebook page, and work through the week’s tasks on their own.  Each week, we will meet virtually as a group on Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the week’s accomplishments, address technical challenges posed by the week’s tasks, and set up for a productive three days of writing before beginning the next chapter on the following Monday.

Participants will have a chance to get technical help at every stage along the way, and additional editing support is available for writers whose first language is not English. Library and Writing Center faculty will be available to answer your questions throughout the process.
