Assistant Professor - Media Production

Position Description

Teach 12 credits per semester in the area of media production, including courses in live event production, documentary production, corporate and promotional video production, and intro to audio/video production. Opportunity to teach at the graduate level and other areas within the department as qualified. Promote a strong collegial and student-centered atmosphere. Advise students, conduct research or creative scholarly activity, advise student organizations, and supervise internships. Maintain positive relationships with area media and provide service to the university, community, and profession. Position begins August 12, 2019.

Minimum Requirements

An earned terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in media production, communication, or related area; 3 years professional field experience. Preferred: 2-3 years teaching experience. Candidates should be familiar with Adobe Creative Suites software.

Additional Information

The Department of Communication is in the College of Arts and Sciences and offers the Bachelor of Science in Communication in five emphasis areas: Human Communication, Media Production, Multimedia Journalism, Strategic Communication, and Theatre. Also offered is a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Arts in Communication. There are 12 full-time faculty and more than 200 undergraduate and graduate students. Resources supporting media production include a full television studio, control room, 7 editing bays, 23 station computer classroom, and additional support areas. The media production area has a record of award-winning documentary and sports productions at state, regional, and national competitions.
