Assistant Controller for Financial Reporting

Position Description

Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Controller for Financial Reporting. As an accounting professional in the Controller’s Office, this individual is responsible for the preparation of the university’s various financial reports. The Assistant Controller for Financial Reporting reports to the University Controller. Approximate start date March 1, 2019.

Responsibilities

Preparation of the university’s annual financial report and various other financial reports and surveys, including coordination of any financial statement audits.

Ongoing design, creation and maintenance of Oracle ERP financial reports, queries, and dashboards for campus users. Provides continuous support and recommends improvements of financial reports to enhance user experience. May develop and present training materials and assist users in all aspects of report functionality. Performs ongoing maintenance of Oracle ERP chart of accounts segments and hierarchies.  Serves as an active member of the Oracle ERP Financial team with responsibility for system configuration and periodic upgrades.

Assist in the continuous monitoring of fund, cost center and account balances for accuracy including correspondence with appropriate campus personnel for any issues requiring resolution. 

Fiscal representation at training workshops, conferences, committees and conventions at regional, state and national levels. Assist the Controller in application of new accounting standards. Assist with special projects in the Controller’s Office and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required, along with at least three years of experience in financial accounting. Other requirements include excellent financial, organizational, communication and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in governmental and non-profit accounting procedures is preferred.
