Hosted by the Pittsburg State University Music Department, this year’s festival will be held Oct. 5-6 in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts and at McCray Hall.
From master classes and recitals to collaborative concerts and continuing education sessions, this festival is the premier destination for trumpet players of all ages and levels.
Directed by Professor Todd Hastings, it has welcomed such legends Wayne Bergeron, Jens Lindemann, Joe Burgstaller, the Romm Family Trio, and many more.
This year’s featured artist: William Leathers.
At just 23, this Juilliard-trained rising star is already a principal trumpet with both the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Fe Opera. Known for his brilliant clarity and artistry, William has performed with the New York Philharmonic Brass, the Cleveland Orchestra, and top symphonies across North America and beyond.
Leathers will perform in a free public concert at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 in McCray Hall.
"This is an incredible chance to learn, perform, and be inspired alongside one of the brightest talents in classical trumpet today,” Hastings said.
