Pitt State Media Production students capture awards at state broadcasting competition 

Nine Pitt State Media Production students led by Communication Professor Troy Comeau, Assistant Professor Barth Cox, and Assistant Instructional Professor Kate Allred won 11 awards in eight categories at this year's Kansas Association of Broadcaster's competition. 

“I am extremely proud of these students who have worked really hard to represent us and showcase what our department has to offer,” Cox said.

Alexa Owens, (Olathe): 2nd Place for “Feeding America Audio PSA: Best Special Programming" 

Documentary 
Bo McDowell (Pittsburg): 2nd Place for “The Process” 

Audio Documentary 

Zech Boswell (Pittsburg): 2nd Place for “The Mall Deli Audio Documentary” 

Station Promotion Announcement 

Jude Wolfe (Joplin): Honorable Mention for “Student Government Association Video” 

Best Feature 

Alexa Owens (Olathe): Honorable Mention for "Pittsburg State University Promotional Video" 

Sports Play-by-Play 

Deven Baumchen (Topeka): 2nd Place for “2023 MIAA Men's BB Championship Play-by-Play" 

“I’m thankful to have a small part in helping all our students, not just our winners, grow in their craft and see them succeed,” Allred said.
