Pitt State offers new travel photography course

The Graphic Communications program at Pittsburg State University is offering a new travel photography course to be held in Washington D.C. from July 11- 15.

This course will provide students with an opportunity to learn about street/documentary photography, architectural photography, portraiture, and travel basics in general. The aim of the course is to help students create professional quality images while traveling.

The course is open to all students, regardless of their major or level of photography experience. Professor Rion Huffman will teach the students and provide hands-on guidance in each area of photography.

To prepare for the trip, three warm up sessions will be held in Pittsburg on June 9; in Bentonville, Arkansas, on June 30; and in Kansas City on July 7. These sessions will help students get comfortable with their equipment and provide an opportunity to practice their photography skills before the trip.

For those with little or no photography experience, a “photography basics” power session will be offered on June 9. Camera gear can be provided for those without the proper equipment.

The trip to Washington, D.C., will offer students a chance to explore the city’s rich history and culture while capturing unique and beautiful images.

Students will learn about composition, lighting, and other techniques used in travel photography. Additionally, the students will visit iconic landmarks, historical sites, and unique neighborhoods throughout the city.

Enrollment for the course is now open. Interested students can contact Huffman directly by email or 620-235-4848.
