Construction Expo a vital link between industry and prospective hires

Pittsburg State University’s Construction Expo started in 2013 with a single company to provide an opportunity for students in the School of Construction to experience equipment that they might see in their careers. A decade later, it features more than 100 vendors from across the nation and draws 800 attendees.

This year’s Expo is planned for April 11-12 at the Kansas Technology Center and its surrounding parking lot.

The event serves as a vital link between industry and prospective hires, says event coordinator Seth O’Brien, a professor in the School of Construction.

“It’s designed for students throughout the area, as well as contractors and instructors, to get an opportunity to network and see tools, equipment, and techniques used in the field today,” O’Brien said.

Attendees can expect live demonstrations, presentations, and interactive exhibits. Students can explore career opportunities. And vendors can interact with potential future employees.

In 2022, the Expo expanded to include Interior Design and Electrical Technology exhibits and vendors.
