In partnership with Pittsburg Area Young Professionals, Enactus members used their business principles, pitch skills, and leg work to collect donations to support a bike drive for elementary students; they raised $1,500, which nearly matched PAYP’s fundraising of $2,000.
Bikes will be distributed to families who signed up through the Salvation Army’s Christmas Distribution program, according to Enactus advisor Chelsey Decker.
“Can you imagine the faces of these kids when they see a bike under their tree on Christmas morning?” she said.
PAYP and Enactus students will work together to deliver the bikes on Dec. 18.
“Every child deserves the feeling that comes with turning the corner on Christmas morning to see their brand new bicycle next to the tree. It’s a classic holiday moment that might just be remembered forever. Thanks to the fundraising help from Enactus, we’re going to make Christmas a little brighter for 41 local families this year,” said PAYP President Matt O’Malley (BBA ‘08). “We hope this becomes a yearly partnership, and one that encourages Enactus students to naturally transition to PAYP once they graduate.”
The PAYP goal for Christmas 2022, and every year after, they said, is to raise enough to purchase 100 bikes.
