As the winner of the Victor J. Emmett Jr. Memorial Award, Adam Sonstegard will deliver the 28th Annual Victor J. Emmett Memorial Lecture at 8 p.m. in the Governors Room of the Overman Student Center. Sonstegard will discuss "A Connecticut Yankee as an Early Graphic Novel." The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the Heritage Lounge in the Overman Student Center. 

The award and lecture are named in memory of the late Victor J. Emmett Jr., who for 23 years was a professor of English at Pittsburg State University.  

Sonstegard is a professor of English at Cleveland State, teaching American literature, literature surveys, advanced composition, and technical writing courses. He also taught in the University Writing Program at the University of California, Davis. His research areas include American literature's mediation of, and mediation by, visual arts, American literature and photography, original illustrations accompanying literary work in periodicals and special editions, and LGBT+ literatures and histories.
