Overview


The minor in Leadership Studies includes an introduction to information on leadership theory, leadership styles, problem solving, resolving conflict, nurturing change within organizations, decision-making styles, small group facilitation, and systems thinking. Students must complete a 15-hour fieldwork experience in required courses.

The minor is made up of 21 undergraduate credit hours. There is a six credit hour core consisting of Foundations of Leadership, Service Learning Seminar, and Leadership Seminar. Working with the Leadership Studies advisor, students will map out 15 additional hours from a list of approved courses dealing with leadership issues. These 15 hours come from all four academic colleges, Arts and Sciences, Education, Kelce College of Business, and Technology.

Students who enroll in this minor leave with the knowledge, skills, and strategies required to enhance their ability as a leader in:

  • Any chosen field, career, or profession
  • Community Organizations
  • Graduate School, serving on teams, committees, or councils
  • Service Clubs

LDSP 601 is a Service Learning Seminar. It includes a 15-hour fieldwork experience designed by the student and approved by the professor.
