Lambda-Chi Zeta
Chapter
Sitting at the corner of Broadway and
West Lindburg, the newly built chapter house of Lambda Chi Alpha
stands as a testament to the lifelong membership and ideals
of the fraternity. The chapter house was recently built by alumni
to house the newly re-established chapter.
Lambda Chi Alpha strives to prepare and encourage collegiate
men of good character, high ethics, and noble ideals to contribute
positively to the world in which they live. In order to achieve
this aim the men of Lambda Chi Alpha focus on personal character
development through leadership, scholarship, community service
and positive social experiences.
Lambda Chi Alpha is one of the largest men’s general fraternities
in North America with chapters at more than 300 universities.
At Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts on November 2,
1909. The Fraternity was founded with the expressed objective
purpose of bringing about the association together of college
students of good moral character, to establish brotherly love,
mutual aid, close personal connection between alumni and undergraduates
as well as testing each with courage, self-control, obedience,
democracy and courtesy toward all with whom they may come in
contact. The Lambda Chi Zeta chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha was
founded in 1969. Throughout the 1970’s, 1980’s and
early 1990’s the chapter was consistently recognized both
locally and nationally for academic excellence and philanthropy.
In the spring of 2006, the chapter died down to one active member
and one year later, the chapter is growing rapidly with twenty-two
men.
The North American Food Drive is Lambda Chi Alpha’s nationally
sponsored philanthropy. It started as a Pantry Raid at Lambda
Chi Alpha in Millsaps College and became an international event
that has raised over 21.3 million pounds of food for the hungry. |
