PSU ID Number
The PSU ID number is a nine-digit number that is unique
to each student, faculty, or staff member. The Gorilla Card is issued
with your PSU ID number printed on the front. You will need this
number to access many of the systems and services at PSU, including
GUS. Most times, you don’t need to use the zeros at the front.
PSU Status
Most cards will list a status of Student, Faculty or Staff.
ISO Number
The 16-digit number printed on the front of your
card is also encoded on the magnetic stripe on the back of your
card. It is an identification number used when scanning your card
for services and activities on campus. This number is also used
to attach your free checking account from Commerce Bank to your
Gorilla Card. If a card must be replaced, the cardholder will be
issued a new ISO number and the old number will be deactivated.
Once an ISO number has been deactivated, it cannot be used again.
Magnetic Stripe
The magnetic stripe is encoded with three “tracks”
of information. Track 1 is formatted based on the ABA (American
Banking Association) standard and is used for ATM and debit card
access to your Gorilla Checking account from Commerce Bank. Track
2 is encoded with your 16-digit ISO card number and is used when
your card is "swiped" in a reader, eliminating slow keyboard
input of your 16-digit number. Track 3 is encoded for use in future
applications such as door access.
Gorilla Card Uses
Your Gorilla Card currently has many functions, and may
have more in the future. Current uses include:
- Library access
- Meal plan access
- Banana Bucks
- Retail food service
- Bookstore
- Housing laundry
- Photocopying and printing
- Event access
- Newspaper Readership Program (students only)
- Student discounts at local merchants
Commerce Account
You can use your Gorilla Card on and off campus as an ATM
and debit card attached to your free checking account with Commerce
Bank. A Commerce branch is conveniently located on the mail level
of the Overman Student Center. The ATM feature can be used free
from charge at any Commerce ATM location. A Personal Identification
Number (PIN) must be activated on the Gorilla Card at Commerce Bank
or Commerce Bank ATM. Follow this link for more information.
