History
PSU Peer Education came into being in 1994 largely through the efforts
of psychology student Amy Patton, who approached Dr. Gary Grimaldi with the
idea of forming a Bacchus & Gamma affiliated peer group that would use theatre
as its primary form of presentation. Dr. Grimaldi enlisted J.T. Knoll, PSU Substance
Abuse Counselor, and together they developed a training program. Not long afterward,
Gorillas In Your Midst was selected as a name that conveyed the connection with
PSU's mascot while denoting the mission of peer education.
