Partnerships

The safety program at Pittsburg State University works in partnership with several local, state, and federal agencies.  The department is also developing an ever increasing list of local partnerships with area businesses.  One of the 2007 goals for the Environmental Safety and Health department is to enable southeast Kansas to become the safest place to work.  By realizing this goal students will find SE Kansas a better place to work and Kansas businesses will realize the value added education of students who have chosen a safety minor or the competent person program.

These partnerships enable students to take their education to the workplace and assist the business community in improving workplace safety.  Students learn how to recognize hazards, create job safety analysis, develop curriculum for “tool-box” talks, develop job descriptions, make safety presentations conduct safety audits; perform task analysis, and other requirements as directed by the employer.

Pittsburg State is one of a few post secondary organizations participating in an active partnership with OSHA.
