Distance Education The System is comprised of Allen County Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Fort Scott Community College, Independence Community College, Labette Community College, Neosho County Community College, Emporia State University and Pittsburg State University. Through cooperation and communication, the eight System institutions deliver comprehensive educational opportunities, provide strong support for economic development initiatives, and provide a variety of other services to the people of Southeast Kansas. Recognizing that the well-being of our society and the foundation of our economy is a well-educated citizenry, the System has worked to extend convenient, affordable access to higher education opportunities in Southeast Kansas. Each institution supports this concept through on-campus and face-to-face off-campus courses and degree programs. Many of our institutions offer technology-mediated courses and degrees to support our mission that can be accomplished best through cooperation among System institutions. Students may choose to enroll in any of the mediated courses that are listed as a stand alone course or as a part of a degree program that they are earning from one of the member institutions or from an institution of higher education outside of our constorium. At this time, the System partners do not offer all of the courses required to earn an associates degree via the internet. Courses that are not available by the System can be obtained from other community colleges in Kansas. This information is available from your home institution. Students earning an associates degree from any of the six community colleges in the System can transfer all of these courses, including the internet delivered courses to Emporia State University or Pittsburg State University. All of the courses offered on the internet by the System will transfer to any Kansas Regent School. Emporia State University offers a Bachelor of Integrated Studies Completion Degree (http://lifelong.emporia.edu) via the internet. Students who want to complete an associates degree on-line will need to establish one of the six community colleges as their Home College. Students who have already been admitted to one of the community colleges, will continue to use that institution as their Home College. The college providing the technology-mediated instruction will be defined as the Provider college.
