Mission

Campus Life and Auxiliary Services strives to be an articulate, informed and persuasive advocate for students. It's staff members have a compassion for students and recognize that success in serving students depends on organizational and personal integrity along with the establishment and maintenance of trust in all relationships.

Campus Life and Auxiliary Services:

  • Acknowledge that the academic mission must always be pre-eminent. The fundamental premise that defines our role, is the primacy of the academic mission of the University. Campus Life and Auxiliary Services will be at its best when it is closely linked to other areas of the University through a collaborative partnership that enhances the University experience for students. Programs and support services are designed to complement and enhance the primary academic experience of students and to assist them in successfully applying those experiences in their daily lives.
  • promotes a comprehensive student development model to address the current issues while anticipating and preparing for future challenges. The area works with due diligence to accommodate and support the increasing diversity of students and to understand and respect the cultural traditions of a global student population.
  • strives to develop the total person—socially, occupationally, spiritually, physically, intellectually, and emotionally. The unit has a strong commitment and dedication to celebrating, encouraging and enabling multiple communities with diverse needs within the student population.
  • contributes in a significant way to the process of defining the institutional conscience. While all members of the University community must contribute to its collective conscience, the division often plays a unique role in matters of justice, fairness and equity.

Campus Life and Auxiliary Services by nature must be proactive rather than reactive. It must anticipate opportunities and challenges and develop appropriate action plans and strategies through effective planning. It is vital that the division be progressive with a view toward the future. The ultimate responsibility of the division is to ensure outcomes that enable the University work for the education and life-long enrichment of students.

Vision

Campus Life and Auxiliary Services aspires to serve students in the most efficient and effective ways possible in support of their academic efforts while at the University. The division strives to be a driving force for change, not just for the sake of change, but for the true benefit of the University community. The division recognizes its role in contributing to planned and managed growth of the University. Integral to this role is a commitment to expand services, increase resources, equip staff, improve facilities and acquire property to accommodate this growth.


Functional Areas

  1. Administration of all university student housing and associated programming and services.
  2. Administration and monitoring of contracted university food service.
  3. Administration and monitoring of contracted university bookstore.
  4. Administration, scheduling and contracting of all student activities, concerts and lecture series.
  5. Administration and monitoring of all Greek sororities and fraternities.
  6. Advisement to the Student Government Association.
  7. Administration of all student leadership programming.
  8. Administration of the campus judicial process for students.
  9. Administration of the student-owned Overman Student Center.
  10. Administration of all university ticket sales and student I.D. distribution.
  11. Administration of all physical health services to students.
  12. Administration of all psychological and mental health services to students.
  13. Administration of all law enforcement and protective services for campus property, facilities, students, staff and visitors.
  14. Administration of all parking services.
  15. Administration of the Student Recreation Center and
    intramural sports programs.
