An estimated 150 area high school students are expected on campus Nov. 18 for a day full of activities designed to encourage art and feature career opportunities for artists.
Students participating in High Light High School Art Day have been invited to bring two of their artworks, which will be juried by Corey Hine, a PSU alumnus who is now a production artist with Hallmark Cards. Hine will present a public lecture about his work at Hallmark and also his own studio practice at 10:45 a.m. in the Balkans Room.
Among the activities planned for the day is a sidewalk chalk painting contest based on a theme designed by art historian Li-Lin Tseng. The students will also attend a public lecture by Marjorie Schick. Schick will discuss her work at 12:30 p.m. in the Balkans Room.
The day's activities will conclude at 2:30 p.m. with awards for the student artwork and the sidewalk chalk painting.
