PSU to hold winter commencement

Despite the winter storm that briefly interrupted finals week at Pittsburg State University, winter commencement ceremonies will go on as planned on Friday, Dec. 14. This winter, a total of 575 students are eligible to participate in the ceremony. Commencement exercises begin at 7:30 p.m. in the John Lance Arena in the Weede Physical Education Building.

Three PSU alumni will be honored at commencement with the PSU Alumni Association’s Meritorious Achievement Award. They are Robert L. Bailey, retired chairperson, CEO, and president of the State Auto Insurance Companies; Dr. Roy Jensen, director of the University of Kansas Cancer Center; and Dr. David L. Sallee, president of William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. A reception for the award winners will be held at 5 p.m. at the Wilkinson Alumni Center.

Immediately preceding commencement, graduates, their families and friends are invited to the traditional President’s Reception, which begins at 6 p.m. on the Mezzanine in John Lance Arena.
