Students learn about opportunities at Career Expo
More than 120 companies of all sizes are registered to attend PSU’s two-day Career Expo Sept. 26-27 and experts in the university’s Career Services Office tell students that great opportunities sometimes lie in the most unexpected places.
“Sometimes students don’t consider some companies because they seem to be outside of their major,” said Career Services Director Mindy Cloninger. “But large companies have lots of needs. For example, a manufacturing company needs people in accounting, sales, human resources and accounting in addition to the engineers they hire.”
The annual Career Expo is one way students can learn about the many opportunities companies and organizations have. Because the Expo has grown so much over recent years, Career Services has organized it to stretch over two days, each with a different set of employers. The first day, Wednesday, Sept. 26, will feature employers in education, non-profit and public services. Booths will be open from 1-4 p.m. that day. The second day, Thursday, Sept. 27, will feature business and industry. Booths that day will be open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. All of the activities both days will take place in the Overman Student Center.
