The Legislative Affairs Department is charged with identifying and taking action on pertinent issues within the state and national legislatures, maintaining and enforcing the Student Government Association Constitution and providing the link between the SGA Cabinet and Senate.
The Legislative Affairs Director is a unique in that it is elected by the senate. That person then serves as one of only two cabinet members with votes in the Senate. Additionally, the Legislative Affairs Director is the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and third in the line of succession.

When an issue concerns Pittsburg State and the Kansas state legislature needs to know about our position, the Legislative Affairs Director is the one that sponsors and directs the campaign to make the issue known and let the legislature know how PSU stands.
Higher Education Day
Kansas Board of Regents Representative
The Legislative Affairs Director along with the President of SGA sit on a committee with the Kansas Board of Regents. This committee discusses and promotes the best interests of the 6 Regents schools in Kansas.
