General Education Degree Requirements

The general education degree requirements consist of 49 credit hours of course work. These 49 credit hours are distributed across six areas: basic skills, core courses, natural sciences, languages and cultures, fine arts, economy and society.

All baccalaureate students must meet general education requirements. Separate general education degree requirements have been approved for students seeking the Bachelor of Science in Education degree and the Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree. See the College of Education and the Department of Engineering Technology for specific requirements.

Courses meeting general education requirements may also satisfy major, minor, emphasis or program requirements.

The requirements for each of the six areas can be satisfied only by taking one of the courses or combination of courses listed. These courses have been selected by the academic departments and approved by the General Education Committee.
