Psi Chi
Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology. In addition to being an honor society, the organization participates in the annual Psychological and Educational Research in Kansas Convention, student community service activities, guest speakers, field trips, parties, and an annual department banquet. Membership is open to all students who meet the following criteria:
- Completion of at least 3 semesters (or 5 quarters) of college or completion of at least 9 semester hours (or 14 quarter hours) in psychology
- Registration for major or minor standing in psychology
- Undergraduates must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00 and rank in the upper 35% of their class in general scholarship and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in psychology classes
- Graduate students must maintain an average of "B" or better in all graduate courses
- High standards of personal behavior
- Membership in the local PSU Student Psychology Association
Membership in Psi Chi is earned and is for life. Membership records are preserved at the Psi Chi national office and can be called upon for reference purposes such as application for graduate schools and jobs. The only charge by the national organization is a once-in-a-lifetime registration fee of $25. The dues for the local (PSU) chapter are $5 per year. The national organization does not charge dues or any other assessment at any time.
Student's Psychology Association
S.P.A. is a local organization which meets jointly with the PSI CHI meetings. This organization provides an excellent opportunity to meet other psychology students, participate in community service activities, and enhance the student's experience in psychology. Membership is open to all students who meet the following criteria:
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, 6 hours of psychology courses
- Registration for major or minor standing in psychology
- Annual fee of $5
Chi Sigma Iota
Chi Sigma Iota is the National Honor Society in Counseling. Membership is open to all students who meet the following criteria:
- Completion of at least 12 graduate hours
- Admission to a graduate program of study in counseling
- Maintain a GPA of at least 3.5
