Scholarships

You must apply online at https://go.pittstate.edu/scholarship to be eligible for university or departmental scholarships. To be considered for a department scholarship, you must send a letter to the Department of Psychology and Counseling that provides a synopsis of your academic career thus far including as much information as you believe to be relevant.  Within this letter, please include your aspirations with regard to psychology and/or counseling.  Scholarship application deadline is February 1.  Applicant is required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Financial Assistance Office is also available to help.

The Department of Psychology and Counseling offers several scholarship opportunities. Each scholarship, and the criteria used to determine the recipient(s) of the scholarship, is listed below.


Psychology and Counseling Education Department and Scholarship Fund (Alumni)

  • Any major from Psychology and Counseling

Psychology and Counseling Faculty

  • Any major from Psychology and Counseling

Marci Lea Gray Memorial

  • Any major from Psychology and Counseling;
  • 30 credits complete;
  • preference given to:  financial need

Robert G. and I. Louise Lasley Family Memorial Scholarship

  • Any major from Psychology and Counseling;
  • 3.25 minimum GPA;
  • Special requirements:  restricted to majors (either undergraduate or graduate) in Psychology and/or Counseling and do not have to be full-time students

George Wells Scholarship Fund

  • Undergraduate majors in Psychology;
  • 3.0 minimum GPA

Howard L. Siple Scholarship Fund

  • Undergraduate majors in Psychology;
  • Special requirements:  selection criteria includes:  1) evidence of superior intellectual ability, 2) superior scholastic achievement, 3) research potential, 4) professional career potential

H. P. Rumford Psychology Scholarship Fund

  • M.S. in General Psychology (planning to pursue school psychology)
  • Ed.S. School Psychology
  • 3.0 minimum GPA

Susan Weeks Porter Scholarship Fund

  • Undergraduate majors in Psychology;
  • 30 credits complete;
  • Sophmore, Junior, Senior standing;
  • 3.0 minimum GPA;
  • Financial Need;
  • Special notations:  students who are anticipated to be in the appropriate class will be included in the pool

George W. and Aileene J. Blincoe Scholarship Fund

  • Any major from Psychology and Counseling
